Google Products You May Not Have Heard About

Keeping up with the rapidly changing internet is a challenge. I subscribe to a couple of dozen RSS feeds, newsletters and blogs to try and stay ahead of the curve, but there are only so many hours in the day.

I recently came across some cool new tools from Google Labs that you might find interesting. You have to hurry though as Google Labs will be shutting down some of these tools in the coming weeks and months. It is worth exploring some of them and extracting what you might need for your business in the future.

FastFlip –  This is a eye candy for news junkies. It displays easy-to-preview pages of the latest articles and headlines from sites all over the world. You can toggle through recent headlines, select from general categories like “Facebook”, or search the topic of your choice. It is a great way to research topics.

Google Public Database Explorer – The Google Public Data Explorer makes large datasets easy to explore, visualize and communicate. As the charts and maps animate over time, the changes in the world become easier to understand. You don’t have to be a data expert to navigate between different views, make your own comparisons, and share your findings.

Students, journalists, policy makers and everyone else can play with the tool to create visualizations of public data, link to them, or embed them in their own webpages. Embedded charts and links can update automatically so you’re always sharing the latest available data.

YouTube Insights For Audiences – Pick a gender, select an age range, geographic regions and areas of interests. Google then breaks out relevant audience statistics, verticals of interest, examples of popular videos they’re watching, even the search terms they use.

If you enjoyed this article and don’t want to miss the next one click here to get my marketing posts by email as soon as they are published. You will be prompted for an email address and you are set to go.
